Accelerate Auto launches new awards program to recognize successful and impactful Black professionals in Canada’s auto industry
Nominations are being accepted until January 19, 2023 for Accelerate Auto’s inaugural Black Automotive Professional Awards (BAPA).
MISSISSAUGA, ON, December 7, 2023 — Today, Accelerate Auto, a not-for-profit focused on increasing representation of Black talent across Canada’s automotive industry, is launching its first annual Accelerate Auto Black Automotive Professional Awards (BAPA).
The Black Automotive Professional Awards (BAPA) were created to honour Black individuals who have exhibited exemplary service and have made substantial contributions to both the automotive industry and their communities.
Nominations are open to submissions from any current or retired professional from the auto industry, with self-nominations also encouraged. The winners will be disclosed in February 2024, at a special award ceremony coinciding with the celebration of Black History Month.
"We are thrilled to pioneer the Black Automotive Professional Awards (BAPA), a platform that recognizes and celebrates the remarkable achievements of Black individuals in our industry,” said Christopher Nabeta, Executive Chair, Accelerate Auto. “Our organization is committed to fostering diversity and inclusion, and through BAPA, we aim to shine a spotlight on those who have made a substantial impact on both the automotive sector and their communities."
The BAPA award categories include:

● Young Professionals Award
● Emerging Leader Award
A judging committee will carefully select the award winners, and recipients will receive a customized plaque and enjoy the spotlight through feature stories in our media partners and across our popular social media platforms.
