Accelerate Auto Hosts Second Annual Women’s Leadership Dinner
Special event held in honour of International Women's Day convenes women from across the Canadian automotive sector
MISSISSAUGA, ON, March 14, 2025 — In recognition of the 50th anniversary of International Women's Day, Accelerate Auto held its annual Women’s Leadership Dinner.
Hosted at the Village Loft, the annual event convened a group of esteemed women in the automotive industry, including leaders from the private sector, educational institutions, and non-profits.
The empowering evening served as a platform to celebrate the achievements of women in the industry, while also providing the opportunity to address the challenges they continue to face in the automotive sector.
"Accelerate Auto’s mission is to advance diverse talent and equal opportunities across all levels of the automotive industry," says Shannon Miller, Executive Director, Accelerate Auto. "The evening of community-building was filled with inspiring, productive and solution-oriented discussions about progress and transformation."
International Women's Day was established to commemorate women's fight for equality and liberation along with the women's rights movement. It offers a platform to recognize such issues as gender equality and reproductive rights, as well as violence and abuse against women.
Accelerate Auto’s Womens Leadership Dinner facilitates women leaders in automotive connecting with peers and forging new, meaningful connections. An opening address delivered by Miller emphasized the importance of community and collaboration in shaping the future of Canada's automotive industry, particularly with regards to equal opportunity and talent development.
A moderated panel discussion featuring the women of Accelerate Auto’s board explored their personal journeys in the sector, the evolution of the organization, and their vision for how Accelerate Auto can continue to lead the way in advancing women’s leadership in the automotive sector.
Beyond providing a safe space for celebration and networking, the evening functions as a working session to foster conversations about programming and initiatives that Accelerate Auto can undertake over the next five years to address the specific challenges women continue to face in this sector.
